
Dr. Nicoleta Laura Popa is a specialist in educational sciences, and her professional interests focus on giftedness studies and intercultural education. She received her BA in educational sciences (2000) and MA in educational policies (2002) from “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University (Iasi, Romania), and in 2005 she completed her PhD in social sciences at Radboud University Nijmegen (The Netherlands) with a doctoral dissertation on teachers of the gifted. She is currently appointed as lecturer at “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University, and her teaching assignments cover the fields of educational research, intercultural education and gifted education. As part of her professional responsibilities, she coordinates the distance learning program in preschool and primary school education. Her previous experiences in teaching abroad include several invited lectures at University of Stavanger (Norway). She contributed as a member of research teams in several research projects financed by Romanian National Research Council, and she is member in the editorial committee of Annals of “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University, Educational Sciences Series. Her publications include two books (Romanian Teachers of the Gifted: Empathy and Accuracy in Perceiving Students’ Characteristics, 2005; A Guide in Research Methodology for Educational Sciences, 2009), and several articles published in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences proceedings, as well as chapters included in collective volumes.
